Volunteering at Bush Heritage Australia - Nardoo Hills

Over the coming months of winter and spring there are several great opportunities to become involved with Bush Heritage Australia (BHA) in the Wedderburn district. Each month from May until November there will be a working bee weekend, when teams of volunteer workers help the Nardoo Hills reserve manager with weed control works and fencing maintenance. Workers need to be fit, but do not need any experience. These weekends are popular events and are usually booked out as many Bush Heritage supporters from Melbourne view them as the best chance to visit this reserve. However, the team at BHA is hoping more locals will participate in this year’s working bees than in previous years.

The Nardoo Hills reserve is located 20 kilometres to the North-West of Wedderburn and takes in 800 hectares of woodland ridges and slopes and is the home of numerous rare plants and animals. It is a haven for many of the declining woodland bird species like Diamond Firetail and Hooded Robin as well as a wildflower paradise in spring.

To register your interest, please e-mail or ring BHA’s volunteer coordinator Heidi Fisher. Her contact details: hfisher@bushheritage.org.au or (03)8610 9102
